As a student I always enjoyed creative writing assignments, so I was eager to roll out the "Fake News Report" for our Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief unit this year for the first time! Students absolutely blew me away with their wit and firm understanding of the book. The assignment was to pick a particularly powerful scene in the novel and reflect on it from a journalist's point of view. Students chose to write from the perspective of a god, a fellow Half-blood, or a mortal (each would view the scene differently).
The following (above) were selected for demonstrating high quality writing, and I appreciated many of the visuals on these submissions as well. As a treat, I printed the top ones in color! Below, you can see some of them up close.
Bravo, students!
