Students may:
- ask for the language of origin of a word
- ask for the pronunciation, meaning, or sentence to be repeated
- Repeat the word BEFORE spelling it (Student must ask questions about pronunciation, meaning, etc. BEFORE repeating the word. Once word is repeated, the student must begin to spell!)
- Spell the word WITHOUT writing the word in the air
- Take less than a minute to spell the word
- Look at the Spelling Master/judges when spelling the word
- Say "Capital" before a letter that should be capitalized (ex: "Capital F"-e-b-r-u-a-r-y)
- Repeat the word after spelling it
